This year's CITY CYCLING comes to an end - 42 teams competed for 3 weeks
The winners of this year's city cycling competition, which ended on 1 September, have been announced! A total of 674 Lüchow-Dannenberg residents took part in this year's "City Cycling" competition and cycled 137,339 kilometres. kilometres, saving the atmosphere more than 22.8 tonnes of CO2.
"In 2024, we once again had a colourful mix of teams from all corners of the district and from all walks of life. Together, we showed that everyday cycling has a future here," says Tilmann Seifert, Cycling Coordinator for the Lüchow-Dannenberg district.
First place in the school ranking went to Lüchow Grammar School with 14,763.5 kilometres and 2,450.7 kilograms of CO2. In second and third place are the Förderschule-GB Wendland Dannenberg, 4,082.4 kilometres, 677.7 kilos of CO2) and Fritz-Reuter-Gymnasium Dannenberg (4007.1 kilometres, 665.2 kilos of CO2).
The best school classes in the district are class 6a at Lüchow Grammar School (3,878.8 kilometres and 643.9 kilograms of CO2). The second-placed class 5a "Flitzer" also comes from Lüchow Grammar School (2,093.7 kilometres and 347.6 kilos of CO2). Class 11b "Strampler" from Lüchow Grammar School took third place (1,887 kilometres and 313.2 kilos of CO2)
The three best teams were the BikeShop-Freunde team (15,556.9 kilometres, 2,582.4 kilos of CO2), Team Continental Werk Dannenberg (13,127.9 kilometres, 2,179.2 kilograms of CO2) and the BGZ team (10,178.5 kilometres, 1,689.6 kilos of CO2).
The three best individual cyclists and cyclists are: Wilfried Barmann from the Geesterdinger Duo team (2239 kilometres, 371.7 kilos of CO2), Heinz Kern, also from the Geesterdinger Duo team (2124 kilometres, 352.6 kilos of CO2) and Christina Klages from Team BGZ (1813 kilometres, 301.0 kilos of CO2).
Our local politicians also cycled diligently. The top three were Hartmut Pape (1109 kilometres, 184 kilos of CO2), Uwe Dietrich (387 kilometres, 184 kilos of CO2) and Dirk Harney (144 kilometres, 23.9 kilos of CO2)
The winners in the categories "Best Team", "Best School Class", "Best Individual Cyclist", "Best Local Politician" and "Best School" will be announced at the Dannenberg Open Sunday on 15 September 2024 at 13:00 on the NDR stage honoured. Prizes are awarded, which this year were sponsored by the companies Voelkel, Wendlandmarkt, BGZ, VR Plus, ContiTech, Möbel Wolfrath, Familientherme Gartow and the LSE.
