Free annual public transport ticket if you give up your driving licence
From now on, people who voluntarily surrender their driving licence have the opportunity to obtain a driving licence for an unlimited period of time. Annual ticket for public transport in the area of validity of the Wendland tariff - this was decided by the district council last year. The application for the annual ticket must be submitted again each year for the following year.
Who is entitled to the offer?
People who voluntarily surrender their driving licence are eligible. The offer is aimed specifically at older residents of the district, for whom the use of regional public transport offers a good opportunity to be mobile even without a driving licence.
How can I take advantage of the offer?
Interested citizens can submit the waiver declaration to the road traffic office, where they will receive the application form for the annual ticket, which will then be sent to them by post.
Appointments can also be booked online via the appointment booking portal.
How long is the annual ticket valid for?
The annual ticket is always valid for one year and must then be reapplied for. It will then be checked again whether the entitlement is due to the driving licence waiver.
