Wendland OnDemand is the flexible mobility service offered by the Lüchow-Dannenberg district. It supplements public transport throughout the district with journeys that passengers can book via the "Wendland OnDemand" app or by telephone (05841/120 555) can book. The journeys are provided by local taxi companies with which the district cooperates.

On-demand transport is the further development of the classic on-demand bus service. The approximately 350 bus stops and around 100 other virtual stops serve as starting points and destinations. These can be viewed on the map in the Wendland OnDemand app. The software is used to bundle journey requests with similar routes so that several passengers can be transported together in one vehicle. This allows the on-demand vehicles to be used efficiently and in a resource-saving manner.

Wendland OnDemand is based on the Wendland tariff.

Price group 1 (full payer): Passengers without an existing public transport season ticket pay €5 for the district-wide "Wendlandnetz day ticket" and an OnDemand surcharge of €2.00 (Mon-Fri) or €3.00 (Sat/Sun). Passengers who already have a valid season ticket (e.g. Wendlandnetz annual ticket, Deutschlandticket, Niedersachsenticket) only pay the OnDemand surcharge.

Price group 2 (children 6-14 years, pupils, trainees, students, volunteers, holders of an honorary card, MobiCard holders): Passengers in this price group without an existing public transport ticket pay €2.50 for the district-wide "Wendlandnetz day ticket" and an OnDemand surcharge of €1.00 (Mon-Fri) or €1.50 (Sat/Sun). Passengers who already have a valid season ticket (e.g. Wendlandnetz annual ticket, Deutschlandticket, Niedersachsenticket) only pay the OnDemand surcharge.

Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge with Wendland OnDemand, but must also be specified when booking.

Payment is possible in two ways:

Credit card: In the Wendland OnDemand app, you can pay conveniently by credit card when booking. You will receive your money back in the event of cancellation.

Cash: You can also pay cash in all Wendland OnDemand vehicles. Please pay the driver as appropriately as possible when boarding.

The service area of Wendland OnDemand covers the entire district of Lüchow-Dannenberg. In addition, the following bus stops are served in the neighbouring districts, although not house addresses: Salzwedel ZOB, Suhlendorf Kirche, Rosche Ortsmitte, Göhrde Bahnhof, Dahlenburg Markt, Dömitz ZOB.

With Wendland OnDemand you can book journeys for the following times:

• Montag bis Donnerstag von 5:00 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr,
• Freitag von 5:00 Uhr bis 24:00 Uhr,
• Samstag von 6:00 Uhr bis 24:00 Uhr,
• Sonntag und Feiertag von 8:00 Uhr bis 22:00 Uhr.

Passengers are mobile even if there is no regular bus service or the distance to the nearest bus stop is too great. This is because the walking distance to the start stop or destination address is never more than 500 metres. This gives people in Wendland a new flexibility in their mobility and makes them less dependent on their own car.

Thanks to the bundling of journeys and the use of modern, partly electric vehicles, you help to protect the environment. App notifications or text messages keep you up to date from the time of booking until the end of the journey.

Before travelling for the first time, passengers must register once in the "Wendland OnDemand" app or by telephone. When doing so, you enter your name, telephone number and e-mail address. You can enter a credit card or start with cash payment. These details can be changed later at any time. The app is available free of charge from Google Play and the Apple Appstore.

During registration for Wendland OnDemand, data such as name, e-mail address, telephone number and, if applicable, payment details are collected. This data is processed in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations. Anonymised data may be analysed in order to improve the service, transport planning or marketing. Once you have registered, you can specify your journey request either by telephone or in the Wendland OnDemand app. Before your vehicle departs, you will be navigated to your starting point with the help of the app. Passengers without a smartphone will receive a precise description of where they will be picked up by telephone. Signposting of the virtual stops is planned for the future.

Wendland OnDemand is a supplement to conventional public transport and differs from a taxi service. In addition to the bundling of journeys, the restriction to bus stops and virtual stops is an important factor for the efficiency of the on-demand service. Door-to-door service means additional journey times for all passengers. A surcharge is therefore levied. For passengers with reduced mobility and severe disabilities, the door-to-door service is offered at no extra charge in the interests of participation.

Yes, the cooperating taxi companies use vehicles that can transport people in wheelchairs and up to 4 accompanying persons. When booking via the app, select the fare group "Mobility-impaired with wheelchair" and your journey request will be assigned to a suitable vehicle. The Wendland OnDemand app is currently available in German, English, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Ukrainian. The language of the app automatically adapts to the language selected in the smartphone settings.

Yes, the Deutschlandticket is also recognised by Wendland OnDemand. Passengers with a valid Deutschlandticket only pay the OnDemand surcharge and, if required, the surcharge for door-to-door service. Once you have decided on a connection, you can select the Deutschlandticket under "Discount options" and the fare will be reduced to the OnDemand surcharge. You then show the Deutschlandticket to the driver when boarding.

Yes, up to three children under the age of six may travel free of charge, but must always be accompanied by an adult. In addition, a separate seat must always be booked for children under the age of six. Babies can only be transported in their own car seat. If a child seat is required, please use the comment function when making your booking or contact the Wendland OnDemand booking centre by telephone at least 1 day before departure.

It is not possible to transport bicycles. The vehicles used cannot transport bicycles. Assistance dogs for blind and visually impaired people are transported free of charge. Pets are allowed on board provided they are transported in suitable containers. The transport staff will decide on the carriage of pets on a case-by-case basis. The passenger must supervise the animal and is liable for any damage caused by the animal during transport.
