Im Jahr 1969 wurde der Schienenverkehr eingestellt und der erste Bus gekauft. Seit diesem Jahr betreibt die LSE die Personenbeförderung mit Omnibussen, die schon damals von der Schülerbeförderung geprägt war.
Aktuell führt die LSE ausschließlich Personenbeförderung im konzessionierten Linienbusverkehr sowie Anmietverkehr im Landkreits Lüchow-Dannenberg durch.
The LSE office is located on the company premises in Roland-Brandin-Straße in Lüchow. LSE not only operates public transport in the Lüchow Dannenberg district, but is also active across the district and runs services as far as Dömitz and Uelzen in partnership with neighbouring transport companies. As a contribution to climate protection, LSE bears the "Blue Angel" eco-label and operates at least
mit EURO IV/EEV.
Am 14.12.2011 wurde die LSE 100 Jahre alt und feierte ihr Jubiläum.
Lüchow-Schmarsauer Eisenbahn GmbH (LSE) was founded on 16 April 1910 as Kleinbahn Lüchow-Schmarsau GmbH and opened the first full-gauge line on 14 December 1911. Operations included passenger and freight transport on rails and roads. The main shareholders were the Prussian state, the province of Hanover, whose shares were transferred to the state of Lower Saxony in 1945, and the former district of Lüchow. Currently the Lüchow-Dannenberg district sole shareholder.
