Local transport plan 2025 - 2029: citizens are also called upon

The district of Lüchow-Dannenberg is starting the public participation process for the preparation of the new local transport plan (NVP). The new NVP will be valid from 2025 to 2029. Among other things, it will determine how local public transport in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg is to be organised in the coming years. An initial draft is available and was approved by the district committee in mid-November.

As part of the public participation process, all citizens can now also view this draft. District Administrator Dagmar Schulz is calling for participation: "Get involved and contribute your ideas and suggestions so that we can base the development of local public transport on a broad social foundation."

The draft NVP can also be viewed on the district's website at the URL: www.luechow-dannenberg.de/oepnv can be viewed here. Comments on the local transport plan can be submitted to Verkehrsgesellschaft Nord-Ost-Niedersachsen (VNO) by post or preferably by email by 26 January 2025. Verkehrsgesellschaft Nord-Ost-Niedersachsen, Inselstraße 1, 21682 Stade or nvp_dan@vno-stade.de

The VNO is the joint transport management company of eight districts in north-east Lower Saxony and has many years of experience in organising public transport. The VNO also addresses current mobility issues and industry trends. Managing Director Karsten Leist is certain: "With this draft, the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg is safeguarding the improvements implemented in recent years as well as further targeted improvements, even in economically challenging times."

This balance is currently the major challenge for many public transport authorities. Key issues include improvements to school transport, maintaining basic public transport services on the main routes and the commitment to the state bus route 7000.

The district of Lüchow-Dannenberg is responsible for local public transport in accordance with the Lower Saxony Local Transport Act and is obliged to draw up a local transport plan.
