More mobility from point to point

The "MobilPunkt Wendland" funding project has been launched. Workshops on the project will be held in the three joint municipalities in November.
In order to provide people in Wendland with an attractive and broad-based mobility offering, the district will set up new "MobilPunkte" (mobility points) at various local public transport and rail transport hubs (ÖPNV/SPNV).
Simple bus stops in the village can be supplemented with seating or bicycle racks, for example. At medium-sized and larger mobility stations, there can be bicycle boxes or charging infrastructure or a connection to the Wendland car sharing scheme.
Project coordinator Jens Reichardt presented the project to councillors and the public at several municipal and town council meetings. "In the good discussions with the joint municipal mayors and in the council meetings, the towns and municipalities in the district showed great interest in the project and were open to actively participating in it."
During the workshops, the ideas will be concretised and the interests and needs of the residents will be surveyed. The employees of the Climate Protection and Mobility Unit would like to enter into a one-and-a-half to two-hour dialogue with all those interested in the topic in order to optimise the possible locations of the "MobilPunkte" in Wendland and discuss further mobility offers.
The specific dates for the workshops have now been finalised and all people in Wendland are cordially invited to take part and contribute their ideas. These are the planned dates in the three joint municipalities:

Background:
The "MobilPunkt Wendland" project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs (BMDV) and is based at the Municipal Mobility Management (KMM).
"MobilPunkte" are an essential and visible building block in municipal mobility management. As starting, destination and transfer points, they tie in with the key topic of networking mobility services in order to organise travel chains entirely or partially using environmentally friendly and environmentally compatible means of transport. The aim is to completely or partially dispense with the use of private cars on many journeys, in other words: more mobility with less traffic. To this end, at least two means of transport are available at "MobilPunkte", which can be developed into meeting points beyond their pure function as transport hubs. Train stations and central bus stations (ZOB) are usually the cornerstones of "MobilPunkte" by linking regional and local public transport with other mobility services.
