Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir learns about mobility in Wendland

Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir has visited Lüchow. On his summer tour, the politician stopped off at the bus station to find out more about mobility in rural areas.

District Administrator Dagmar Schulz welcomed the politician. Mareike Harlfinger-Düpow, Head of the Climate Protection and Mobility Unit, then presented various mobility services in Wendland to the minister, including the new on-demand transport service. Cycling coordinator Tilman Seifert also informed the minister about the construction of cycle paths in Wendland and Dennis Peitzert, authorised signatory of LSE, introduced Özdemir to the Lüchow-Schmarsau Railway Company (LSE GmbH).

The minister's visit was accompanied by protesting farmers. The farmers had called for a rally to the bus station in the morning. Even before the minister arrived, tractors were already blocking traffic in Lüchow town centre. As cars could no longer get through, Özdemir quickly switched to a bicycle and reached the meeting point at the bus station, escorted by cycling police officers. The farmers' protest was calm. The minister also made time for them. Among other things, he discussed low grain prices and support from the state with around 50 farmers.
